Teacher will introduce a history unit on the American Revolution (choose your revolt). Teacher will assign students in pairs to create scenes for a mural.

You will need a computer(s) loaded with ClarisWorks or Microsoft Works draw or paint program or Kid Pix. Arrange for access to color printer.

Plan and design at least twelve (12) "scenes from the revolutionary war" for a mural. For example, Paul Revere's ride, Boston Tea Party, Constitution, etc. (Note: This lesson is based on the Where's Waldo? concept.)

Assemble and combine the scenes into a mural on a bulletin board or wall.

(In Pairs)

Create a background scene for the crowd.

Research and sketch a historical character.

Create a detailed figure drawing of their character on the computer.

Copy and paste the figures onto the background scene to create a crowd.

Print scenes on color printer.

Print a second copy of the pages, paste the mural on foam core, and take it on the road as traveling mural. For example, display at your local library, post office, town hall, etc.
