Teacher will introduce the basics of investing in the stock market (Watch for T & G Stock Market Game ) . The class is divided into five (5) groups and each group gets an imaginary $5000.00 for class total of $25,000.00.
 
 
You will need a computer(s) loaded with ClarisWorks or Microsoft Works spreadsheet, a calculator, and access to a printer. (Note:ClarisWorks Assistant/Stationery - Investment Tracker Microsoft Works Wizards )
 
 
Study and review business sections of newspapers throughout the entire project (to remain informed in case of change) to find good/bad news about companies.
 
Review how to read the stock quotes paying attention to price per share.
 
Compare company stock prices.
 
Will research past performance of selected stocks using the Internet, such as, Wall Street Stock Quotations on Wachusett Regional High School Home Page (www.wrsd.net/highschool).

Build a portfolio by buying stock. Determine how many shares they can buy with their investment $$$. Use calculators to figure the quantity of shares to be purchased, based on the price per share.
 
Track the performance of the investment portfolio.
 
Graph their group's portfolio performance weekly and analyze their status. (Decide whether to hold or sell and invest in another company. Be alert for better investment opportunities,)
 
Post the graphs of each group's portfolio performance.
 
 
Use ClarisWorks Investment Tracker or comparable wizard to calculate and make graphs.
