Teacher will have the students design and conduct a scientific investigation. For example, answer the question, "How does the amount of water affect plant growth?" Students will be assigned to groups of 3 - 4.

You will need computer(s), loaded with ClarisWorks or Microsoft Works spreadsheet or database. Arrange access to a printer and a color printer for final project.

Choose a species of plant for testing and plant seeds or equally developed cuttings for five potted specimens.

Water their group of plants according to the predetermined watering schedule.

Keep a detailed, specific journal of the watering schedule, procedure, and plant growth.

Construct a database or spreadsheet and enter recorded data.

Construct a graph from selected data from all the class groups.

Write a lab report using the outline format in your word processor.

Insert graphs and spreadsheet data into your report.
