- Teacher will have students assume the identity of
characters in historical period. For example, Civil War, the Depression,
Ancient Rome or Greece, etc. Teacher assigns groups of 3 - 5 students.
Teacher will develop script guidelines and broadcast limits (TCC approved).

- You will need a video camera, tripod, and blank
video cassettes. Arrange for use of a media cart for the final presentation
and editing.

- Decide and assign roles (reporters, newscasters,
man on the street interviewers, historical characters, cameramen) for
students to play in each group.

- Discuss and review teacher's guidelines for script
and length of broadcast.

- Research the historical era including prominent
characters of the period.

- Develop a script for broadcast.

- Construct a set and obtain props.

- Film the broadcast.

- Show the broadcast to peers and parents.

- Interview a character out of his time. For example,
"What would Abraham Lincoln think of current civil rights?"

- Add a commercial for the Cotton Gin, Wig Powdering,
etc.
