Teacher will introduce the concept of data collection, storage, access and analysis. Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 4.
 
 
You will need a computer(s) loaded with ClarisWorks or Microsoft Works or TableTop database and access to a printer.
 
 
Create a survey form in a word processor to record data.
 
Conduct a survey of their class or schoolmates of their favorite ice cream and toppings.
 
Collate gathered data and create a chart on a poster board.
 
Using the chart choose field titles and formats for database records.
 
Enter data into records.
 
Generate a simple report based on a sampling of the data. For example, answer the question, "How many students like chocolate ice cream with strawberries and Skittles?"
 
 
Create a graph of your results.

Print your reports and graphs to make a presentation.
