Scholarship Update
Mary Meyer is heading up the Scholarship Committee. They are working on finalizing the criteria and applications to put on the website and in the Landmark next week.

Spaghetti Dinner Follow-up
The Spaghetti Dinner was well received. Both seatings were sold out – 365 tickets at $5 each. Volunteers were exceptional.
Anne Marie will have Deirdre, Chris, Johnna, and Lisa complete event forms, noting what worked well and any suggestions for next year.
Next year will have to address the issue of making parents aware that band/chorus members need a ticket for the dinner, as it is not a concert, and is a true fundraiser.
The Spaghetti Dinner has always been to benefit the music department, but may be split with other departments in the future. The Drama Club may want do a 20 minute skit if they are interested in having the dinner benefit them.
A suggestion was made to have the students participate next year by delivering the meals, bread & butter, or desserts.

Drama Club Presentation of Little Miss Christy
Wednesday, April 30, 7pm
Michele VanReet will talk with Christine Caruso to see what she would like to do for the setup – rows of chairs, tables? Coffee and dessert during the play or after? Sell tickets?

10th Anniversary Celebration
It was suggested that the celebration be held within the school versus within the community. Eric will post the different stages and changes of the CTMS building on the bulletin board. Possibly have a cake day for the students to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their school. There are less than a dozen students with peanut allergies who would need a separate cake.

New PTO Officers
Letters of intent are due by May 1 for the open positions of Chair, Co-Chair, and Treasurer. If you know of anyone who would be a good fit, please encourage them to apply.

Teacher Appreciation
First week in May. Looking to do:
Monday, 5/5 – fruit bowl and muffins in 4 team rooms
Wednesday, 5/7 – raffle
Friday, 5/9 – ½ day – luncheon – Johnna will look into the cost of the Grand Slam and Anne Marie will check the cost of Val’s. Robyn will decorate.

May MCAS Snacks
Need 30 stacking bins labeled with MCAS and the Room #. Johnna will purchase the boxes from The Dollar Store and be reimbursed by the PTO. The Classroom Coordinators will begin calling volunteers for snack donations two weeks before the MCAS tests begin. We have approximately 200 snacks left over from March MCAS.

New Business

Landscaping
Looking for donations of mulch to fill in the front of the school. Will put a notice in Snapshots and the PTO e-mail.

Taxes
Anne Marie and Christina will meet with a corporate tax person after 4/15 to see if/what the PTO has to file.

Snapshots
Will now hold 3 weeks worth of Snapshots on the school website.

The meeting adjourned at 8:12pm.

Thank you for everything.

April 1, 2008
Dear Annemarie and the PTO staff;
I wanted to take the time to thank you for all your effort throughout the year and especially with the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) convention. Your organization runs like a well-oiled machine and your generosity and willingness to help is unremarkable.
The conference was a big success and had an astounding turn out. It was a good feeling to be surrounded by such excitement and scientific interest. I feel that I have gained a world of new ideas and have endless possibilities to share with my students in the classroom. There were many different presenters and organizations attending the conference. Some of the ones that I found most beneficial were; NASA, NOAA (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Association), UMASS Lowell, WindKids and many more. You might even say that I might have a bit of information overload. I had the opportunity to take a wide variety of classes and to peruse an even greater assortment of exhibits. I had the opportunity to dissect a squid, learn about using shark tooth fossils in the classroom and how to send kids to the moon (figuratively of course). I also participated in a handful of classes to enrich my knowledge of astronomy and space Science.
It seemed that everywhere I turned there was another interesting exhibit, good idea or new concept that I know the kids will love. Although I did not yet spend the greatly appreciated funds you allotted me, I have some great ideas (and even some coupons), which I will put to good use. I wanted to thank you once again for your awesome support and I would love to share some of my ideas with you and I might be able to even send you to the moon!
