Construct, read and interpret tables charts and graphs. (picture, bar, line).

Discuss appropriate uses for picture, Ex: Holiday candy in a random sample Valentine hearts, M&M's, Halloween treats. - Keep track of test scores or assignment scores on a chart.

- Compare/contrast effectiveness of each type of graph.

Resources

Develop effects of changing scales on extended bar graphs and how statistics can lie.

Control a variable to make the statistic inaccurate. Use population samples.

Ex: town, state, federal census and make graphs. Project future population.

Discussion and sharing of data and conclusion. Will use a controlled variable to see how outcomes can change. - Town Reports.

- State Census Reports.

- Demonstrate the mean by using color of clothing, shoes, etc. in a classroom.

- Construct a people graph using students, analyze for central tendencies.

- Calculate baseball averages and ice skater's scores in competition.

- Collect and organize data.

Compare/contrast groups with similar data.

Collect, organize data for a larger group.

Ex: class, grade, school

- Map locations of objects in classroom by setting up and using a grid front/back walls letters right/left #'s.

- Create pictures following a series of ordered pairs.

- Play I Spy game.

- Chooser gives coordinates, player names objects.

Accurately completing the given picture. Create pictures using all four quadrants; make own directions of ordered pairs to create a picture.
