Veteran's Day Recognition
Students and community members gathered together to recognize Veterans from the Davis Hill Community. Kindergarteners in Ms. Prouty's and Mrs. Cavan's classes led the Pledge of Allegiance. A father, Mr. Dunn, spoke of his experience in the Air Force and Vietnam War. Fourth graders in Mrs. Blanchard's class recited the ABC's related to Veteran's Day facts. A mother, Mrs. Layton, spoke of her experiences as a woman in the Army. First graders in Mrs. Ellis's, Miss Chamberlain's, Mrs. Erali's and Mrs. Jarry's classes sang "This Land is Your Land". Mr. Bockstein spoke of his experiences in WWII, showing off a globe marked with his travels in the Army. Mrs. Mitchell's fourth graders recited patriotic poetry. School custodian, Mr. Balthazar, spoke of his experiences in the National Guard and told the young audience what it means to him when the National Anthem is sung in public. Olivia, a 5th grader, then sang a solo National Anthem. The fourth and fifth grade choruses, under the direction of Mrs. Howard, sang "Of Thee I Sing". The program ended as the entire school population sang "I Love America".
