Davis Hill Third Grade


Third graders will expand upon skills developed in previous grades. Increased independence and study skills are encouraged. The transition is made from learning to read, to reading to learn. Students will have approximately 30-45 minutes of homework per night.

General Curriculum

    Language Arts
    Synonyms/antonyms, paragraph writing, parts of speech, editing, compare/contrast

    Mathematics
    Number sense, estimation, computation, patterns, introduce algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics/probability, multiplication/division

    Social Studies
    Time periods, geography/maps, Massachusetts/Holden, Pilgrims/Puritans, Revolutionary War, Wampanoags

    Science
    Rocks/minerals, layers of earth, severe weather, water cycle, solar system, life cycles, matter, simple machines, magnets, characteristics of animals
