2. There have been several cases of fifths disease in the school . Fifths is a mild childhood illness that causes a rash. The first symptoms may include a headache, body ache sore throat and mild fever. This may last a few days. After a week or so children get a rash which usually starts on their face and is a bright red rash. This is often followed by a lacy rash on their arms and legs.
The virus is airborn and is spread by the infected person coughs or sneezes. Most people do not know they have it until the rash appears and then they are no longer infectious. Pregnant women should tell their doctors that they have been exposed.
