Procedures for Bicycle and Scooter Riders 

1. The privilege of being able to ride a bicycle or scooter to school is restricted to students in grades 4 and 5.

2. Students riding bikes and scooters must wear a helmet.

3. Arrival: bike and scooter riders should not arrive at school before 8:50 when students are permitted to enter the building. Bikes should be locked up at the bike rack when arriving at school. Scooters should be folded. During the day they will be kept in the space designated by the classroom teacher. They are never to be used on the sidewalk or driveway while waiting to enter school.

4. Dismissal: bike and scooter riders are dismissed at the same time as the walkers. Riders are expected to walk bikes and scooters off the school grounds.

5. Please review safety rules with your child:

a. never ride out into the street without stopping first
b. obey stop sign
c. check before swerving, turning or changing lanes
d. never follow another rider without applying the rules
e. before you get on a bike, put on a helmet
f. children who have a traffic light crosswalk on their route need to be sure they understand how it works and the need to use it.
