        MCAS Pep Rally
         March 21, 2011

This year the staff of Dawson decided they would like to do something special for the kids to get them to "SHOW WHAT YOU KNOW!"  on their upcoming MCAS assessments.  The staff, students, and parents participated in some way.  Staff  inspired all the students to take a risk, not be afraid, and always try your hardest.  There were songs, dances, posters made by the younger students, postcards of encouraging words from students and parents, and inspirational music.

For many of the children it was great to see the staff participating to the song, "Fireworks".  I am sure if you asked them they would be quite enthusiastic about the event.  Even the Superintendent, Dr. Pandiscio,  participated.  All of this helped to take the stress out of the testing sessions.  Wearing the bracelets with the inspirational words BELIEVE, ACHIEVE, SUCCEED,  I CAN DO ANYTHINGI  has inspired all our students to do their best.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.  I also want to thank the Dawson PTA for supporting our staff by purchasing the t-shirts for us and helping to inspire all our children.

I have also added one parent's email comments to me with her permission.

I just wanted to commend you and your great staff for making MCAS week so fun!  The pep rally was talked about in my house each day with imitations and all.  I never knew what a talented bunch of performers you have on your staff!
It was definitely a positive approach to what could be a stressful experience, but you all took stress completely out of the equation.

Thank you all for the extra time and effort you put into making MCAS week fun for our kids.

Sincerely,

Lori Quinn
