Room Parent Sign-Up

Attention all Parents….

                                 It’s Room Parent sign-up time!!!!

The Dawson PTA tries to supply each class with three volunteer room parents each year.  Kids love having their parents involved as room parents and it’s a nice opportunity for you to get to know your child’s teacher, classmates and other parents better.                                                                        

The basic room parent job involves:                                                                

l. Helping the classroom teacher plan and/or supply items and volunteers for special events, such as holiday parties and field day.

2. Coordinating classroom parent volunteers for the annual Continent’s Month Buffets (Jan. or Feb.) and Staff Appreciation Luncheon (May).

3. Other miscellaneous duties—each teacher uses room parents differently, availability during the day is critical to the success of the Room Parent Program. (Please no siblings unless prior arrangements are made with the teacher).                                                                              

Note:   being a room parent does not guarantee selection to serve as a field trip chaperone.  Chaperones are selected by a lottery from among all parents who request to be considered.                                                                                                                                                            

Room Parent selection will be done by a random drawing.   If you wish to enter your name you must complete the form below and return it to school by September 15^th.   If you have more than one child at Dawson and wish to volunteer to be a room parent for each of your child’s classes, please submit a form for each child.  Please note that you can be a room parent for only one of your children’s classes, so if you have preference for one class over another indicate this on your forms.  Parents who are selected will be notified by September 22^nd.
