 Inferring Focus Lessons


Inferring is a comprehension strategy that allows a reader to combine background knowledge with evidence from the text when questions are not answered by the text itself. This strategy combines other tools including making connections, asking questions, and monitoring for meaning. Sample lessons for inferring are provided in the table to the right.
