Attention Mountview parents: there has been a confirmed case of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) at Mountview. Please click here for an informational sheet from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. While the exposure to Mountview students was minimal due to the winter break, we would like you to be informed of the signs and symptoms. Please contact your child's physician if you have any concerns.
Attention parents/guardians of 7th grade students: please click here to read a letter from Superintendent McCall regarding criteria for Grade 8 placement in Algebra classes.
Important information regarding morning extra help - please read!
Attention all students and parents: morning extra help does not begin until 7:30. In fact, some teachers do not start their extra help until 7:40 or 7:45. Students should come into the office to see if their teacher is available. If not, students must wait outside until their teacher is ready for students, because there is no supervision available inside the building. With the onset of cold weather, students should dress appropriately for waiting outside.
Parents: It's flu season! Please click here for an important fact sheet regarding the flu and when to keep your child home. By adhering to these guidelines, you can help us prevent the spread of the flu and flu like symptoms here at Mountview. We want everyone here to stay healthy, so please read!
Mountview is in need of a boys' Baseball Coach and a girls' Softball Coach for this spring. Please contact Assistant Principal Brian McCarthy if you are interested in coaching either of these sports at Mountview. Thank you in advance for your interest!
The PE department will be taking students outside to snowshoe and cross country ski EVERY DAY. The students have been told to bring hats, coats, gloves, warm pants, and SNOW BOOTS to prepare for the weather and outdoor activity. Please be sure to remind your son or daughter to bring in these items as they will be graded on this unit. We are looking forward to introducing these new activities. When your son or daughter has PE they will need to be prepared to go outside, assuming the weather allows us to (we will not go out if temperatures are below 20 degrees). Students who forget their snow gear here at school on the gym floor will find it in the back of our equipment room.
All Guided Studey classes, except for Period 3, should report to Room 209 today. Period 3 should report to the Library.
A reminder to Model UN students: we have a meeting Monday morning at 7:30 in the Library. Please wear your club t-shirt or a blue or white shirt as we are having our yearbook picture taken.
Volunteers needed for Play and PTA Dance!
Parents, the PTA needs your assistance! Many volunteers are needed to chaperone the PTA dance (March 6th) and to help with various tasks during the Mountview Play (March 11th through March 14th).
Tickets for Aladdin will be on sale during lunch periods in the cafeteria and in the Mountview office during regular school hours beginning on March 2nd (please avoid purchasing tickets between 7:45-8:15am and 2:30-3:15pm during entrance and dismissal) for $5 each. We will only be selling 200 tickets per show due to parking limitations, so please consider purchasing your tickets early. We have performances on Wednesday, March 11th; Thursday, March 12th; Friday, March 13th; and Saturday, March 14th at 7:00pm (this new show time was just added!); and on Saturday, March 14th at 2:00pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. Please consider carpooling as parking will be tight with construction and all the snow. We hope you are able to join us for one of these performances!
Many thanks, in advance. These wonderful activities won't be as successful without help from our entire Mountview community.
Please support the Mountview Middle School Yearbook!
For many years, our school has produced a yearbook to preserve school memories for students and their families. The yearbook is a strong tradition in our school, and we strive to deliver the best possible yearbook for our students every year. To help us create a high-quality yearbook at a price that all families can afford, we count on the support of families and local businesses through congratulatory/parting messages and business advertising.
Families are welcome to send a congratulatory message to their children that will appear in the yearbook. This is a wonderful way to let your children know how proud you are of them and their accomplishments. Ads come in three sizes, ¼ page, business card size, and single line (please see the order form accompanying this newsletter for pricing). Please note that all messages must be approved by administration prior to printing. Please limit 2 congratulatory/parting messages per student.
Additionally, advertising in the Mountview Middle School yearbook provides an excellent opportunity for you to get the word out about your business. If you own your own business or know a business that may be interested in advertising, please consider advertising in the 2015 Mountview Middle School yearbook! These ads will be viewed repeatedly over the years, so your ad will be seen time and time again!
Please email email@example.com with any questions you may have in regards to messages or advertising. Thank you in advance for your support!!!
Please click here to download the Yearbook Ad form.
Ads are due by March 31, 2015 - don't miss out!!
Attention parents: the Presidential Awards are given out at graduation each year to deserving 8th grade students. Please click here to access a flyer that contains all of the necessary criteria required for receiving this award. Please note: this is a national award so the criteria is set by an outside commission, not Mountview staff.
The PTA is also collecting empty bags from any Lay's snacks and empty pouches from any type of pouch drink, not just Capri Sun and Honest Kids!
