The Grade 8 Points Challenge contract is designed to reward students who practice consistently good behavior and work ethics in school.  Each student receives 25 points on January 2, 2008.  The challenge for each student is to keep all of their points.  Points are deducted for the following infractions:

• 5 points for each classroom detention due to inappropriate behavior
  
  
• 5 points for each classroom detention due to missing homework
  
  
• 5 points for each office detention due to recess, hallway, cafeteria or bus misconduct
  
  
• 3 points for each office detention due to tardiness to school or class
  
  
• 20 points for in-house suspension or suspension out of school
  
  
• 25 points for each failing grade (cumulative) in any class
  

Each student must earn the privilege to travel to Washington, DC with the class.  In order to be eligible, a student must have at least 5 points remaining from the 25 points.  Parents and students should discuss the guidelines before signing up for the trip.  Your payments for the trip are non-refundable.
