2012-2013 WRSD School Calendar
PowerSchool Changes: In order to prepare for enhanced PowerSchool functionality for parents, we have enabled Single Sign-On which changes the way you access the Powerschool system. You will need to visit ps.wrsd.net to set up your new account. You will find instructions on that page for creating your account and adding your existing PowerSchool access information. Single Sign-On will allow parents with multiple children in the district to access all their children's information from one login account. It also allows you to choose your own username and password so that you will have an easier time accessing PowerSchool in the future. For those who also have children in elementary schools, you will receive access ID's for those students next week in the form of a take-home letter. The letter will guide you to the instructions for adding each child to your new Single Sign-On account. Again, please visit ps.wrsd.net to set up your account as soon as possible. Thank you.
Summer School: WRHS summer school will run from June 21 through July 25 and will not meet the week of July 4 (July 2 - 6). We recognize the importance of family vacations and commitments and have created this schedule in an attempt to balance that with the necessity of recovering academic credits from previous classes. We want to publicize this schedule in the event summer school may be a possibility for your student. This is the best way of maintaining the path to graduation for those students who earn an "E" in any of the eligible courses. Please strongly consider enrolling your student if they fall into this category. Credits may also be recovered from previous years. For more information, contact Mr. Drew Weymouth, summer school administrator at 508-829-6771 ext. 1632. Download a registration form here.
Checking Student Progress: Parents may access their child's grades and progress through PowerSchool, the WRHS grade and attendance reporting system. The portal may be reached through the "PowerSchool Log In" menu item to the left. Parents who do not have a password should contact the main office.
WRHS Booster Club: The WRHS Booster Club is looking for parents and other interested volunteers to help revive this long-standing club. Anyone interested in helping the WRHS boosters should contact Donna Larramee in the WRHS main office.
Technology Help: To help parents learn about the potential and problems with new media, the WRSD, in conjunction with the Worcester District Attorney's office, recommends NetSmartz, an online resource to help families make sense of new technology.
Prohibition Against Electronic Devices: Students are not allowed to use any electronic device at Wachusett Regional High School. This includes cell phones, iPods, pagers, and other devices. Parents should not attempt to contact students through their cell phones, as the likely result will be that the student will have the cell phone taken away and will receive detentions. If a parent needs to contact a student during school hours, the parent should call the main office (508-829-6771 ext. 0) and the child will be contacted.
Accident Medical Insurance Protection: The Lefebvre Insurance Company will no longer print applications for student insurance. Therefore, students will not receive an application in his first-day-of-school folder. A
brochure explaining the program and containing an application may be downloaded by families that are interested. Hard copies are also available on the table outside the Main Office. Students should turn in completed applications to the Main Office.
