Spring Sports at Wachusett Regional High School

Wachusett Regional High School fields nine  sports teams during the spring season, at the varsity, JV, and freshman levels. The cost to participate in a sport is $250/athlete per athletic season with a maximum of $350/family per season. People seeking more information about the WRHS athletic program should contact athletic director Jennifer Lynch.

Playing a high school sport requires of students tremendous dedication. Athletes at the varsity level make a huge commitment of time, effort, and energy. This commitment comes on top of their primary focus on their academic classes. Students who choose to play a spring sport should be aware of the expectations of their chosen sport. All spring sports teams begin practice in March and continue through  June. At the varsity level, most teams practice on weekends and holidays and during school vacations, including during the April school break. In addition, athletes are often expected to take part in off-season workouts and in-season conditioning sessions. Wachusett Regional High School encourages students to play a sport and get involved in extracurricular activities, but we want everyone to be aware of what is involved. Linked to each sport below are general information and the expectations for that sport. Parents or athletes who have questions should contact the coach of that sport.

All candidates for a WRHS sports team must turn in a completed and signed Release/Eligibility Form (Green Card) and proof of a physical examination. The Physical Examination Form should be completed by the parents and the family physician. Students must also present a signed Concussion Law Awareness form to their coaches. The form must be signed by both the student-athlete and his/her parent or guardian. Students who do not present these signed forms to their coaches will not be allowed to participate in tryouts/practice sessions.

Physical Exam Requirements: The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association requires students to be covered by a physical exam for the entire season of sports participation. Students must turn in or have on file with the school nurse proof of a physical examination, which should be supplied by the family's physician. The Massachusetts Physical Health Form should be filled out by the family physician.
