I) Wellbeing Series for Educators:
Lighthouse Wellness and Health Education Consulting, in partnership with DESE, is offering two free, virtual, well-being series for educators:
- The Yoga and Meditation series will consist of one hour of yoga practice (all levels welcome) followed by a 15-minute meditation practice. The series will run from Thursday, October 27 through Thursday, February 16, and participants can drop in for a single session or as many as they wish.
- The Thriving and Flourishing series will engage participants in a range of activities to prioritize their health and well-being, and all sessions will include some form of movement activity, breathing exercise, community connection, skill building, and personal focus/reflection time.
More information about both series, including links to register, is available online.
II) Civics Project Virtual Support Forum:
The Department will hold a civics project virtual support forum titled, "Yeah, but What Does the Project Actually Look Like?!" at 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 17. The forum will be co-facilitated by two Civics Project Fellows, educators experienced in planning and implementing student-led civics projects. Participants will learn from real classroom examples of what civics projects look like in action and will leave with concrete strategies for supporting students through Stage 5: Taking Action. Registration and more information are available online.
III) DESE Center for Instructional Support 2022-23 Catalog
DESE welcomes educators from across the state to participate in our 2022-23 network and workshop offerings, both in-person and online. These offerings are designed to support educators to advance teaching and learning across the Commonwealth. We are calling on classroom leaders, school leaders, and district leaders to join us and collaborate across districts to learn, to test and refine tools and strategies, and to innovate. Please check the CIS Professional Development Catalog often for updates.
